Taylor's big year
And no, I'm not talking about 2008.
This is 2009. Taylor has the #1 album again this week, selling over 330,000 copies, to bring her grand total thus far to 1.256 million copies. In fact, last week's number is the highest point yet for Fearless and for Taylor Swift. Don't expect the big numbers to last, though -- first week of the new year always spells big drops in album sales.
But there's a reason by Swift is already 2009's biggest artist. Her album has gone double platinum, probably the fastest in recent memory since maybe Carrie Underwood (Some Hearts) or Shania Twain (Up!), with her album. "Love Story" was a mainstream hit and "White Horse" is already galloping towards the top 10.
Swift is planning her headlining tour (she blogs that the stage is being built and she's already arranged the show) and in a few months she will be heading to Europe and Australia to perform for fans that haven't gotten enough Taylor in the last year.
If you don't like Taylor, you better log out now. 2009 is going to be all about Swift. That is, unless a Twain arrives in the station...
